We are thrilled to have acquired this stunning Mercedes Benz Club of America “National Starfest Best of Show” winner. At a cost of almost three hundred thousand dollars, a three year total ground up Concours restoration was completed by Hatch and Sons in 2004 on this original 3.5 convertible. On August 1, 2004, at the MBCA Starfest Concours D’Elegance, in Shelby, Ohio, it won National Best of Show! We recently purchased it after less than 900 miles were put on it since 2004. After some minor service and detailing, it just won another Best of Show at the MBCA Minuteman section Germanfest XXVI on September 16, 2012, at the Lars Anderson Museum of Transportation in Brookline, Massachusetts, against an all Mercedes field. This stunning DB040 Black with gorgeous red leather 3.5 convertible not only is still a best of show winner, but is fully sorted out and drives like only a great 3.5 can. This original floor shift car comes complete with an owner’s manual, a tool kit, and convertible top chrome release levers. If you want the very best, this is it! This spectacular car would be impossible to replicate at today’s higher parts prices, new old stock parts limited availability, and increased chrome plating costs. A great value at less than the cost of it’s 2004 restoration, I firmly believe this to the best 3.5 convertible in the country; it looks, runs, and drives like new. This is the last, the best, and the most expensive restoration of the many 3.5’s we have restored over the last 25 years.
